Elmore Commission approves Resolutions, Sets Public Hearings, advances Key Infrastructure/Equipment Projects

The Elmore County Commission met on Monday, May 12, During the meeting, Commissioners approved several key resolutions and proclamations, including honoring local AISA Girls State Champions from Edgewood Academy.

The Commission approved several proclamations and resolutions, including:

•             A resolution honoring Barrett Brown, AISA Girls Discus State Champ.

•             A resolution honoring Emerson Boddie, AISA Girls 100-Meter Dash State Champ.

•             A proclamation designating May as Foster Parent Appreciation Month.

•             A proclamation designating May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

•             A proclamation recognizing May as Bike Month.

The Commission set a public hearing for Tuesday, May 27, at 5 p.m. for retail beer (off-premise only) and retail wine (off-premise only) alcohol license application for Open Door Country Store by Open Door Country Store incorporated at 2028 Old Ware Rd. in Wetumpka. 

The commission set three public hearings on Tuesday, May 27, at 5 p.m. for a special events retail alcohol license application for the Black Jacket Symphony by JROK, Inc. at the Lake Martin Amphitheater in Eclectic, for events to be held on June 7 – 8, July 19- 20, and August. 31-Sept. 1.

The Commission also authorized the Chairman or Probate Judge to execute a four-year lease for a Canon Large Format Plotter with ABS Business Systems of Montgomery.

A resolution and order were approved authorizing certain actions with respect to General Obligation Warrants of Elmore County for Quality Of Life Projects.

A resolution and order to appoint Directors of the Elmore County Public Building Authority were passed.

The commission approved a resolution authorizing the Chairman to sign a three-year agreement with Bama Benefits to change the broker of record for voluntary life vision and other voluntary insurance coverage.

The Commission approved awarding bid inquiry 2025, PW 11, at the Wetumpka Sports Complex for field improvement to the lowest responsible bidder.

A new contract with Haynes Ambulance was approved for use by Emergency Management Services.

The Commission authorized Sheriff Franklin to order eight Chevrolet Tahoe from Donahoo Chevrolet for receipt and payment.

The Commission authorized the Deputy Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer to place orders for motor graders and heavy-duty dump trucks as part of the County’s Equipment Rotation Program for Fiscal Year 2026, in alignment with the approved Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Cycle.

Lastly, the Commission approved resolutions for three county road projects. A resolution was approved to level, resurface, and stripe Crenshaw Rd. from Chapel Rd. north 2.77 miles to State Rd. 111. A resolution was approved to widen, level, resurface, and stripe Hogan Rd. from State Route 143 north  4.3 miles to State Rd. 111. A resolution was approved to plane, level, resurface, and stripe Rifle Range Rd. from Redland Rd. east 6.60 miles to Chubbehatchee Creek.

In observance of Memorial Day, the County Collection Facility will be closed on Saturday, May 24, and the Elmore County Administrative Complex will be closed in observance on Monday, May, 26.

The next Elmore County Commission Work Session is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, at 5 p.m. with the Regular Business Meeting immediately following.
