Alabama is home to one of the largest bamboo forests in the southeastโฆthe Bamboo Forest among Wilderness Park in Prattville, AL. Here you can walk among towering golden bamboo, some reaching over 60 feet tallโฆforming a dense, tunnel-like canopy. You can walk a short 0.4-mile loop through the Bamboo Forest here, which takes you directly by a small pond encircled by the bamboo where youโll often see turtles sunning themselves on logs. There are also a few benches located along the trails where you can sit and take in the peaceful scene hereโฆand the trails through some of the thickest areas of bamboo offer a pretty incredible view when you look up.
